Almost Summer in North Carolina

Asheville was just named one of the 8 best beer
towns in America!  CNN says "...with 11 breweries yielding the highest per-capita total in the country, it's already building a global rep."

 Docked in Wilmington, take a tour of a famous battleship, USS North Carolina.  Commissioned for WWII, this ship is celebrating over 50 years of existence, with extensive duty serving our country.  Take a tour and learn all about it.  Get a chance to see the guns fire or even steer the ship.  A great history lesson for the whole family.  Beautiful scenery and lots of fun! Get a chance to add your history to the sea logs.

Azalea Festival
 April 10-14  The 66th annual North Carolina Azalea Festival in the Wilmington area.   Start with the Queen's coronation and end with a circus.  Enjoy it all at the NC Azalea Festival!




Siege of Washington
If you want to learn more about Carolina's history, come to Washington and participate in the Siege of Washington Living History weekend.  Celebrate the 150th anniversary with walking tours and reenactments.  April 12 - 14th All the details at this link.

Under the Dome
North Carolina Film Office has many projects going on all over the state.  Visit Wilmington to see the filming of a 13-episode CBS series "Under the Dome" by Stephen King.  In discussing producing the film in NC, rather than King's home state, Maine, LA Times Michael Verrier said "Aside from the inhospitable winter season, Maine does not provide the kind of competitive film tax credit that is increasingly vital to producing television dramas."
